Firsts get back to their winning ways!

June 3rd, 2017

First XI Vs Rowington: Rowington won the toss and put us into bat first. A very impressive batting display from all 7 batsmen who were needed this week, this began with a mighty start from the opening pair of S Nicholls and D Moore JNR scoring 62 and 33 retrospectively. Our number 3 Batsman, R Sipthorp, stole the show this week, scoring a huge 89 runs before being caught. Follwed by J Hicks contributing a quick fire 55, off of just 31 balls saw our innings end on 280-6 off 45 overs.

In reply, it didn’t take long for the first Rowington wicket to fall, from K Reason in just the 3rd over. Some tight bowling from both Bean and S Groves made it difficult for them to put many runs on the board. Following an injury to our opening bowling K Reason, the first change came quicker than anticipated, with D Moore JNR taking 3 wickets off his 10 overs, one of which was a stunning left handed catch from S Nicholls at slip. The wickets continued to tumble, with J Hicks taking 2, R John taking 1 and D Moore SNR taking 3 off his 2 overs. Rowington all out for 147 off 42 overs.

A good all-round display from everybody involved, taking home 22 points.

Looking forward to next week, First XI away at Warwick County Council and Second XI hosts to Earlswood V.
