Success for the Seconds!

Success for the Seconds!

May 27th, 2017

CCCC Second XI Vs Kenilworth Wardens V : R Lewis won the toss on an overcast afternoon in Campden and chose to bat. After losing an early wicket (7-1), Campden recovered to 146-2 (of which extras contributed 30 to the partnership!) ending when R Lewis was bowled for 79. Parsons and Robinson put on a quick partnership to propel us to 242-5 after 45 overs.

In response, having reduced Kenilworth to 56-6, they then went on to amass a 100 partnership for the 7th wicket which fell to a stunning catch by Proctor at square leg. The wickets were spread between our bowling line up, with T Whitehouse taking 4 and then T Hanson, D Moore SNR, M Proctor, R Lewis and S Nobes all taking one each. The game culminated with when T Whitehouse took his 4th wicket, resulting in a Campden Win by 69 runs.

CCCC First XI Vs Ashton under Hill: After losing the toss, Ashton chose to bat. K Reason got us off to a flying start, taking 3 wickets in one over leaving Ashton 48-3 off 12. From there on in, things didn’t go according to plan with J Groves breaking his hand and S Nicholls injuring his back. This left us vulnerable in the field and they took advantage of this and finished their innings on 271-5 off 45 overs.

It seemed a popular day for our batsmen to sign the duck, 4 of them in total. As well as this, we had the two injuries which left us short of batsmen to chase the total. R Sipthorp contributed a strong 37 as well as G Nicholls who added an impressive 66. It wasn’t to be our week and we were all out for 174 meaning just the 5 points from this game.

Onwards and upwards to next week.
